The building, which was built in 1894, is an architectural landmark in the historic city centre at 2 Halytska Street, where the Austrian Railway Directorate was located, later the Polish magistrate. Now, there is the central building of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University here, one of the largest higher education institutions in the city. Last autumn, the historic doors of the building were restored at Lesi Ukrainky Street. The luxurious, ivory-coloured doors have become a true decoration of the entire downtown area – wedding couples, tourists take photos here, students, teachers and, in general, all the townspeople are proud of the doors. The next step is to restore the lantern above the door, which once hung in this place. It is symbolic that in such difficult dark times we all need light literally and figuratively.
The Urban Space 100 funds will cover the costs of making the lantern.
