Be Visible! Save Your Life!

Realized 01.02.2019 - 01.08.2019

20 000 UAH

According to WHO, nearly 1.3 million people are killed in road accidents each year, and more than 3,000 people a day. The most common causes of road injuries are lack of driving behaviour and poor visibility in the dark time. Denmark implemented a similar project. It has led to a 85 % reduction in road injuries.

The project envisages printing posters and booklets for pedestrians and cyclists. Measures will be taken to prevent accidents and injuries (distribution of light-reflecting tapes/bracelets among the target group, provision of patrol crews with light-reflecting tapes/bracelets and booklets to enhance the awareness-raising activities with city residents who go along the driveway in the dark time without any vision aids).

It is planned to involve active students from the universities to perform information work together with patrols in educational establishments of the 1-3 degrees; increase the responsibility of cyclists and pedestrians as road users by learning the traffic regulations; and provide city schools with light-reflecting vests for holding street events in a safety manner.

After the project completion, it is planned to compare the injury and accident rates (involving pedestrians and cyclists) with those in the previous years.

Be Visible! Save Your Life! project is a continuation of the measures aimed at reducing the number of road accidents involving pedestrians and cyclists (with the support of the NGO, the Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University, and the Ivano-Frankivsk Police Patrol Office).
