There are about 1,120 stray animals within Ivano-Frankivsk and the nearby villages, but only 30 % of them are sterilised (as of July 2017). Despite Polygon, a utility enterprise, and Dim Sirka, a charitable organisation, capture and sterilise animals, the number of stray ones in the city increases every year, which may ultimately affect the safety and comfort of the residents of the city and the nearby villages.
The organisers plan to draw the residents’ attention to the problem of stray cats and dogs and promote the pet sterilisation. The project team will organise the distribution of leaflets within Ivano-Frankivsk and the villages. This will increase the number of voluntarily sterilised animals and reduce the population of stray ones.
The grant programme will cover the cost of printing and distribution of information materials.
