Motion pictures change the world. The technological and information revolution we are witnessing today is the result of the cinema influence. The initiators of the project decided to talk about the influence of motion pictures on world culture and modern trends in art, literature, and theatre.
The project involves a series of three multimedia lectures that will include:
1. The lecture material was created on the basis of research and analysis of Cahiers du cinéma, The Hollywood Reporter, Sight & Sound, Cinema Nuovo and others.
2. Visual materials — fragments of movies translated and voiced in Ukrainian.
3. Media and visual presentation. The fragments of the movies that demonstrate the style of respective motion picture genres will be translated and dubbed by experts for the lectures. The movies will be dubbed by the Tsikava Ideia studio.
The lecture part will include three separate areas:
1. The New Wave of French Cinema/ Nouvelle Vague — based on the movies by Alain René, Claude Chabrol, Jean-Luc Godard, Francois Truffaut (1950-60). Italian Neorealism/ Neorealismo — based on the movies by Vittorio de Sica, Luchino Visconti, Roberto Rossellini (1940-50). The Golden Age of Hollywood — based on the movies by Howard Hawks, Billy Wilder, William Wyler, Orson Welles, Frank Capra.
The fragments of the movies that demonstrate the style of respective motion picture genres will be translated and dubbed by experts for the lectures. The movies will be dubbed by the Tsikava Ideia studio. The lectures will be built on the intersection of classical and modern film language and will demonstrate the consistency of the modern cinema tradition, which is created by streaming platforms and the global film industry.
Lectures will be held on the platform of the Vagabuhdo centre. The media part of the lectures will be published online with free access on the issuu platform.
Funds provided by Urban Space 100 will cover the translation and design costs of the presentations.
