From 30 June to 6 July 2019, the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University hosted the summer school “Perspectives in Biomedicine with Focus on Cancer Immune Therapy.”

The purpose of the school was to spread knowledge about today’s achievements in the field of immune therapy of human diseases, in particular, cancer, and to establish a liaison between the researchers in Germany and Ukraine. The school programme included lectures and workshops.

Besides the scholars of the Precarpathian National University, lectures were given by well-known researchers from the German universities.

25 participants from all over Ukraine were selected to participate in the school. In addition, about 20 students had the opportunity to attend the lectures freely. The participants included both undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students, interns, and practitioners.

In 2018, the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine was awarded for the invention of the principles of immune therapy. Thus, the topic of the school is likely to be interesting to many scholars as well as future and experienced physicians who work in the fields of laboratory diagnostics, immunology and oncology.

A grant from Urban Space 100 was provided for the transportation of conference participants from other Ukrainian cities.
